Everyone has a skill. It may be a skill you are born with or a skill that has taken a lot of hard work to develop – but you have a skill you share with the world.
There are quite a few stories of barbers who are using their skill to cut hair to help the homeless. Why would a haircut make the world a better place? Well – one of the sad realities is that we as a society often dehumanize the homeless based on appearance. Without access to showers, haircuts or clean clothes, it makes it all the more difficult to pull oneself out of homelessness. It provides “human-ness”, dignity and a chance to dispel the stereotypes that often smother opportunity.
What skills do you have that could make a difference in someone’s life?

Do something for nothing. Joshua Coombes is an incredible, caring & selfless human and started the #dosomethingfornothing movement. He inspired me to start the @thekindcut and use my skills to give back to help and connect with our homeless neighbors and dissolve stereotypes. Thank you @buzzfeed for capturing this great video during the @operationhealthyhearts Homeless Support Outreach Day. @joshuacoombes @dosomethingfornothing @thetrampproject @bronwynreedofficial @michaelsutherland_artist @nadiasmiles @jaqstr_ #ChallengeHomelessness #dosomethingfornothing #OHH #kindhearts #thekindcut
